The Berkeley Water Ski Club's (BWSC) mission is to promote community interest in waterskiing developing skills and experience among water skiers. The club maintains tournament water ski sites in Berkeley and on the California Delta; the Berkeley Aquatic Park from May – September each year and the Delta year round. We welcome skiers and ski enthusiasts regardless of ability. The club does not own a boat nor have designated “practice times”. Members who utilize the sites have their own boats or access to a ski buddy (or two) and make their own schedules. BWSC members pay annual dues and we require our members to be members of USA Waterski. We hold tournaments each season as a means for raising money to support the club as well as the sport. Club Meetings: General Meetings are held the first Thursday of February, April, June, August, October, and December (even months) at the Pleasanton Round Table starting at 7:30. The Club's Annual meeting is held the first Thursday of November in Pleasanton Round Table.
Ski and Pot Luck Meetings are held the first Thursday of July at the Delta Site and the first Thursday of September at the Berkeley Aquatic Park. This year the July potluck meeting is happening on the 10th. (Second thursday) How to join:The first step in joining BWSC is to attend a general meeting (see above for meeting times and locations). When you attend this first meeting we will provide you with a prospective member application and packet. This packet explains our process and how to earn points towards membership. Points are earned by doing things such as, but not limited to: attending meetings, having or acquiring a CPR certification, working at work parties, and working at tournaments. The “get acquainted" or prospective membership period typically takes between 6-12 mos. With ski privileges* granted after about 75% of the points are earned and paying the initiation fee. Then upon 100% of the points earned, the member is voted on by our executive board, and when awarded membership, prorated dues are paid and you become a full BWSC member! *ski privileges means you are able to use your own boat at our sites. Typically it is not a problem to ski as a guest until that time.
